My name is Brett LaRue, and I was born and raised in Douglas County, Kansas. I graduated from Free State High School in 2001 and later obtained a degree in Business from Baker University--graduating magna cum laude. I have worn many hats in my life, and I have been involved in almost every aspect of the construction trade at one time or another. I have been an electrician, a handyman, a home remodeler, a general contractor, a realtor--and just about everything in between!  
 
In 2018, I retired from a 12-year career in law enforcement after suffering a career-ending back injury while on-duty. After quite a bit of thought, I decided that being a home inspector was the absolute best way that I could use my knowledge and abilities to continue to serve my community. Even with my  knowledge and experience in the construction industry, I felt I needed to get the most comprehensive education available so that I could ensure I was providing the best services to my clients. I found that with InterNACHI: the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. After months of training and classes, I attained the designation of Certified Professional Inspector, or CPI. Later in 2021, I went on to receive my Certified Master Inspector designation from the Master Inspector Certification Board. This is the highest designation an inspector can receive, and the requirements for certification are the toughest in the industry.
 
I vow to serve you, my client, with integrity, professionalism, dedication, and attention to detail. I will utilize the knowledge and training I have in the residential construction industry combined with the education I've received from InterNACHI to make sure you get the most thorough home inspection possible at an affordable and honest price. UPDATE 2025: I ventured back into the general contractor world and built and sold two spec houses in the Baldwin City market and started a third at the end of 2025. It is a real pleasure to be able to use my knowledge and experience as a home inspector to provide top-notch quality homes. This is a side-venture and I am still doing home inpsections full-time. 

UPDATE 2026: I have been voted the #1 Home Inspector in the Lawrence area via the Lawrence Journal World's Best of Lawrence voting for FIVE consecutive years (2021 thru 2025.) I am extremely honored to receive this award, and I look forward to continuing to provide my clients with professional, precise, and accurate inspections for many years to come! Thank you Lawrence!!!
